วันที่ 5-11 กุมภาพันธ์ 2556 สถานกงสุลใหญ่ ณ เมืองโกตาบารู ร่วมกับศูนย์อำนวยการบริหารจังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้ (ศอ.บต.) จัด “เทศกาลอาหารและผลไม้ไทยในรัฐตรังกานู ปี 2556” (Thai Festival 2013) ที่ Dataran Shah Bandar  เมืองกัวลาตรังกานู รัฐตรังกานู โดยนายจักรกฤษณ์ กาญจนศูนย์ กงสุลใหญ่ และ นายวิทยา พาณิชย์พงศ์ รองเลขาธิการ ศอ.บต.ได้เดินทางไปกระทำพิธีเปิดงาน ในเย็นวันที่ 6 กุมภาพันธ์   โดยมีบุคคลสำคัญของรัฐบาลมาเลเซีย มาร่วมในพิธีเปิด ได้แก่ YB DATO’TOH CHIN YAW, Chairman of Industrial, Trade and Environment Committee of the State of Terengganu  และ Mr.Ahmad Fathil Bin Abdul Ghani, Chief Excutive Officer of Visit Terengganu Year 2013  

ผลการจัดงานได้รับการตอบรับเป็นอย่างดี ไม่ว่าจะเป็นสินค้าอาหาร ผลไม้และเครื่องประดับโดยเฉพาะอาหารสดปรากฎว่า มีผู้เข้าแถวรอลิ้มชิมรสชาดอย่างเนืองแน่น นอกจากนั้น ผู้ร่วมงานได้ให้ความสนใจร่วมชมการแสดงทางวัฒนธรรมไทย เช่น การรำพื้นบ้าน และมวยไทย ที่มีแสดงในเทศกาลทุกวัน

อนึ่ง โดยที่ปีนี้ตรงกับ “ปีท่องเที่ยวรัฐตรังกานู (Visit  Terengganu Year)” จึงทำให้มีนักท่องเที่ยวทั้งชาวมาเลเซียและชาวต่างประเทศเข้ามาเที่ยวชมงานเป็นจำนวนมาก ส่งผลให้การจัดเทศกาลดังกล่าวประสบความสำเร็จอย่างดียิ่ง 

On 5-11 February, 2013, the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Kota Bharu, together with the Southern Border Provinces Administration Centre (SBPAC), held the annual event, "Thai Festival 2013", an event to promote Thai food, fruits and products, at Dataran Shah Bandar, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu.  Consul-General Jackrid Kanjanasoon and Mr. Wittaya Panichpong, deputy director of SBPAC, attended the opening ceremony of the event during the evening of February 6, 2013, with special guests YB DATO’TOH CHIN YAW, Chairman of Industrial, Trade and Environment Committee of the State of Terengganu and Mr.Ahmad Fathil Bin Abdul Ghani, Chief Excutive Officer of Visit Terengganu Year 2013.

The event received a warm welcome and exhibition booths were greeted with great enthusiasm, especially the food booths where people lined up to taste the selection of Thai food offered.  Daily cultural shows and performances, including traditional dances and Thai boxing, were also well-received by the crowd.  

With 2013 being the "Visit Terengganu Year", a large number of tourists coming from both foreign countries and Malaysia attended the event, helping to drive Thai Festival 2013 to a great success.
