วันที่ 5-6 กรกฎาคม 2556 จังหวัดนราธิวาสได้จัดกิจกรรม “โครงการเส้นทางท่องเที่ยวเชิงวัฒนธรรมจังหวัดนราธิวาส ประจำปี 2556” โดยเชิญชาวไทยสยามจากสามอำเภอของรัฐกลันตัน ได้แก่ อำเภอตุมปัต ปาเซร์มัส และบาเจาะ จำนวน 70 คน เดินทางมายังจังหวัดนราธิวาส ผ่านด่านตรวจคนเข้าเมือง อำเภอตากใบ เพื่อเยี่ยมชมสถานที่สำคัญและมีคุณค่าทางประวัติศาสตร์ของไทย อาทิ พระตำหนักทักษิณราชนิเวศน์ พระพุทธทักษิณมิ่งมงคล และศูนย์ศึกษาการพัฒนาพิกุลทองอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ รวมทั้ง เข้าชม “เทศกาลส่งเสริมเศรษฐกิจเพื่อประชาชน” ซึ่งมีการจัดจำหน่ายสินค้าราคาถูกในบริเวณถนนคนเดินของจังหวัด                  

ในการนี้ สถานกงสุลใหญ่ ณ เมืองโกตาบารู ได้ให้ความสนับสนุนการจัดกิจกรรมดังกล่าวของจังหวัดนราธิวาสอย่างเต็มที่ เนื่องจากสอดคล้องกับแนวทางการดำเนินงานของสถานกงสุลใหญ่ฯ ที่ได้จัดกิจกรรมแลกเปลี่ยนทางวัฒนธรรมระหว่างประเทศไทยกับมาเลเซียมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยนายจักรกฤษณ์ กาญจนศูนย์ กงสุลใหญ่ และนายพงศ์ศักดิ์ เทพเรืองชัย กงสุล ได้ไปรอรับคณะชาวไทยสยามที่ด่านอำเภอตากใบด้วยตนเอง และได้เดินทางไปเยือนสถานที่ต่าง ๆ ร่วมกับคณะ ทั้งนี้ สถานกงสุลใหญ่ฯ คาดหวังว่า กิจกรรมดังกล่าวจะช่วยเสริมสร้างให้ชาวไทยสยามมีความภาคภูมิใจที่เป็นผู้มีเชื้อชาติไทย และจะช่วยดำรงรักษาเอกลักษณ์ และวัฒนธรรมของชนชาติไทยไว้ได้สืบไป

On 5-6 July 2013, the province of Narathiwat invited 70 Malaysian Siamese tourists from Tumpat, Pasir Mas and Bachok to travel to Narathiwat under the 2013 Narathiwat Cultural Tourism project, travelling from Takbai Customs Office and visiting historical and cultural locations such as Thaksin Rachanivet Palace, Phra Buddha Taksin Mingmongkol and the Pikun Thong Royal Development Study Centre. The programme also included a visit to a street night market offering low-priced products, an event held to promote the local economy.

The Royal Thai Consulate-General is fully supportive of the programme as it is in line with the Royal Thai Consulate-General’s continuous efforts in promoting cultural exchanges between Thailand and Malaysia. Consul General Jackrid Kanjanasoon and Mr. Pongsak Thepruangchai, Consul welcomed the group at Takbai Customs Office and joined them for the day trip. It is hoped that this activity will help to cultivate pride among Malaysian Siamese people as people of Thai ethnicity and promote the preservation of the Thai identity as well as culture for the next generations.
