วันที่ 18 มีนาคม 2557 – นายจักรกฤษณ์ กาญจนศูนย์ กงสุลใหญ่ ณ เมืองโกตาบารู และข้าราชการสถานกงสุลใหญ่ฯ ได้ให้การต้อนรับคณะอาจารย์และนักศึกษาจากคณะสังคมวิทยาและมานุษยวิทยา มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ซึ่งได้เดินทางมาที่รัฐกลันตันภายใต้โครงการศึกษาภาคสนามของคณะฯ เพื่อให้นักศึกษาได้ทำการวิจัยภาคสนามเกี่ยวกับวัฒนธรรมและวิถีชีวิตของชาวมาเลเซีย รวมทั้งศึกษาประวัติศาสตร์และวัฒนธรรมของชุมชนคนสยาม (ชาวมาเลเซียเชื้อสายไทย)

ในโอกาสนี้ กงสุลใหญ่ฯ ได้บรรยายสรุปประวัติและภารกิจของสถานกงสุลใหญ่ฯ รวมทั้งบรรยายเกี่ยวกับชุมชนคนสยามและความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างชาวไทย-มาเลเซียในบริเวณพื้นที่ชายแดน เพื่อเป็นข้อมูลพื้นฐานให้แก่คณะอาจารย์และนักศึกษาฯ ทั้งนี้ คณะอาจารย์และนักศึกษาฯ จะใช้เวลาทำการศึกษาภาคสนามที่รัฐกลันตันเป็นเวลา 3 วัน โดยพักอาศัยตามบ้านพักของชุมชนคนสยามใน อ. ตุมปัต ก่อนจะเดินทางต่อไปยังกรุงกัวลาลัมเปอร์และรัฐมะละกาเพื่อศึกษาเกี่ยวกับความหลากหลายทางด้านวัฒนธรรมของสังคมมาเลเซียและอิทธิพลจากตะวันตกในประเทศมาเลเซีย

On 18 March 2014, Consul-General Jackrid Kanjanasoon and members of the Royal Thai Consulate-General welcomed students and teachers from Thammasat University’s Faculty of Sociology and Anthropology who were visiting the state of Kelantan as part of their field research on the Malaysian culture and way of life, including the history and culture of the Malaysian Siamese (Malaysians of Thai ethnicity) community.  Consul-General Jackrid took this opportunity to give a briefing on the history and mission of the Consulate-General, the Malaysian Siamese community, and the Thai-Malaysian relationship along the border areas.  The group will be spending 3 days in Kelantan, staying at local Malaysian Siamese homestays in the district of Tumpat, before traveling to Kuala Lumpur and Melaka to learn about the cultural diversity and Western influences in Malaysia.
