เมื่อเช้าวันอังคารที่ 13 ธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2559 ดร. ไพฑูรย์ สงค์แก้ว กงสุลใหญ่ ณ เมืองโกตาบารู ได้รับเชิญไปสนามบินเมืองโกตาบารูเพื่อร่วมพิธีส่งเสด็จสุลต่านมูฮัมหมัดที่ 5 แห่งรัฐกลันตันไปทรงดำรงตำแหน่งพระราชาธิบดีที่ 15 ของประเทศมาเลเซีย โดยมีผู้ร่วมส่งเสด็จเรียงรายตามถนนหนทางและที่สนามบินเป็นจำนวนมาก

On the morning of Tuesday, 13 December 2016, Dr. Paitoon Songkaeo, Consul-General, was invited to attended the function at the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport at Pengkalan Chepo in Kota Bharu to see off Kelantan's Sultan Mohammad V to Kuala Lumpur to ascend the throne as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Mohammad V of Malaysia. Many Kelantanese lined the road from Istana Kegeri (state palace) to the airport itself to see him off.
