เมื่อวันศุกร์ที่ 3 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2560 ดร. ไพฑูรย์ สงค์แก้ว กงสุลใหญ่ฯ ได้ไปร่วมกับสโมสรไลออนส์อำเภอททานะห์ เมอเร๊าะห์ รัฐกลันตัน ในการเลี้ยงอาหารเที่ยงและแจกกระเป๋านักเรียนแก่เด็กชาวมาเลเซียเชื้อสายไทย (เด็กสยาม) ประมาณ 50 คน ผู้เรียนภาษาไทยและวัฒนธรรมไทยเป็นวิชาพิเศษ ที่วัดจำปาแก้ว อ. ทานะห์ เมอเร๊าะห์ รัฐกลันตัน หลังจากนั้น ก็ได้ไปเยี่ยมสำนักสงฆ์ป่าช่าไล ซึ่งชาวมาเลเซียเชื้อสายจีนได้เป็นกำลังสำคัญยิ่งในการปรับปรุงและก่อสร้างอาคารเพิ่มเติม

On Friday, 3 March 2017, Dr. Paitoon Songkaeo, Consul-General, and a honorary member of Lions Club of Tanah Merah, joined with the Club's members in hosting lunch and gave a school bag to each of about 50 Malaysian children of Thai origin (Siamese), who spend their weekend on studying Thai language and culture at Wat Campakew (temple) in Tanah Merah district of Kelantan State. After attending the function, he visited a Buddhist cemetery cum Buddhist monk lodge called Samnaksong Pachalai in the same district. A group of Malaysians of Chinese origin have played an important role in rebuilding the site as a meditation retreat.
