เมื่อวันศุกร์ที่ 7 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2560 เวลาเช้า ดร. ไพฑูรย์ สงค์แก้ว ได้ไปวัดสุคนธาราม อ. ตุมปัต รัฐกลันตัน เพื่อร่วมสรงน้ำคนแก่ และในเวลาบ่ายวันเดียวกันก็ได้ไปวัดดังกล่าวอีกพร้อมนางนวรัตน์ สงค์แก้ว ภรรยา เพื่อเข้าร่วมพิธีเปิดงานสงกรานต์ประจำปี 2560 ของชาวมาเลเซียเชื้อสายไทย (ชาวสยาม) ในรัฐกลันตัน ซึ่งมีชาวสยาม ชาวมาเลเซียเชื้อสายจีน และชาวมาเลเซียทั่วไปเข้าร่วมงานเป็นจำนวนมาก ทั้งนี้ ในงานดังกล่าวหน่วยบริการทางการแพทย์มาเลเซียได้ไปเปิดให้บริการเป็นกรณีพิเศษด้วย

In the morning of Friday, 7 April 2017, Dr. Paitoon Songakeo, Consul-General, went to Wat Sukhontharam (temple) in Tumpat district of Kelantan State to observe the tradition of pouring water onto the hands of the old with deep respect during Songkran Festival. And in the afternoon he and his wife attended the opening ceremony of the Kelantan's 2017 Siamese Songkran Festival at the same temple. Many Malaysians of Thai origin (Siamese) in the Kelantan State came to the temple to celebrate the water festival. Many Malaysian Buddhists of Chinese origin, as well as the Malays also joined in the festival. And a special mobile Malaysian healthcare service was made available for the needy during the festival too.
