เมื่อวันพุธที่ 10 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2560 ซึ่งเป็นวันวิสาขบูชา คือ วันที่ระลึกการประสูติ ตรัสรู้ และปรินิพพานของพระพุทธเจ้าเมื่อประมาณ 2560 ปีมาเล้ว ดร. ไพฑูรย์ สงค์แก้ว กงสุลใหญ่ฯ ได้ไปร่วมทำบุญตักบาตรตอนเพลและร่วมเวียนเทียนตอนค่ำที่วัดประชุมธาตุชนาราม อ. ตุมปัต รัฐกลันตัน กับชาวมาเลเซียเชื้อสายไทย (ชาวสยาม) ชาวมาเลเซียเชื้อสายจีน และชาวมาเลเซียเชื้อสายอินเดีย ประมาณ 1,000 คน และในบ่ายวันเดียวกันก็ได้ไปร่วมกิจกรรมเดินวิ่งวิสาขะพุทธบูชาที่วัดเทพวิมล อ. สุไหงโก-ลก จ. นราธวาส กับชาวสุไหงโก-ลกหลายร้อยคน ทั้งนี้ การแข่งขันวิ่งดังกล่าวมีทั้งนักวิ่งชาวพุทธไทย ชาวมุสลิมไทย และชาวพุทธมาเลเซียเข้าร่วมด้วย

Wednesday 10 May 2017 was the annual Visakha Puja Day or Wesak Day. On this day which Buddhists worldwide commemorate the birth, the enlightenment and the passing of the Buddha about 2560 years ago, Dr. Paitoon Songkaeo, Consul-General, went to two temples to join people in celebrating the Visakha Puja Day. He in the late morning went to Wat Prachumtat Chanaram, in Tumpat district of Kelantan State to join about 1,000 Malaysian Thais and Malaysian Chinese in offering food-before-midday to monks, and at early night to take part in the candle-lit procession to pay homage to the Buddha. Also in the afternoon, he went to Wat Tepvimol in the town of Su-ngai kolok of Narathiwat Province to join hundreds of people in celebrating the Wesak Day by taking part in the Run-Walk-for heath on Wesak Day. Hundreds of Thai Buddhists and Thai Muslims, as well as Malaysian Buddhists participated.
