Consul-General of Thailand to Kota Bharu welcomed Deputy Secretary-General of SBPAC and Delegation to discuss protection of vulnerable Thai children in Malaysia
On 21 January 2025 Mr. Phasit Chudabuddhi, Consul-General of Thailand to Kota Bharu, along with officials of the Royal Thai Consulate-General, welcomed and hosted a working luncheon for Mr. Piyasiri Wattanavarangkul, Deputy Secretary-General of the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPAC), and his delegation at the residence of the Consul-General. The visit aims to discuss appropriate measures to protect vulnerable Thai children in Malaysia, particularly those living in border area of the two countries.
On this occasion, both sides exchanged information and opinions regarding proper channels and procedures for coordinating between relevant Thai and Malaysian agencies to facilitate a transfer of Thai children in distress to their family or relevant authorities in Thailand. The discussion also focused on proactive measures to equip Thai nationals, especially children residing in Malaysia with knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and procedures, as well as how to access assistance channels when in distress in Malaysia, with support from the help of Thai volunteer groups in Malaysia. In this connection, the Royal Thai Consulate-General and SBPAC will coordinate closely in order to synchronize relevant works under their responsibility in Kelantan and Terengganu and Southern Border Provinces of Thailand.
