เมื่อวันเสาร์ที่ 2 กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. 2559 กงสุลใหญ่ ณ เมืองโกตาบารู ได้เดินทางไปเยี่ยมโรงเรียนสอนภาษาไทยในวัดสามแห่ง ที่อำเภอตุมปัต ในรัฐกลันตัน คือ โรงเรียนวัดพิกุลทอง ซึ่งมีเด็กมาเลเซียเชื้อสายไทย (ชาวสยาม) จำนวน 227 คน โรงเรียนวัดมัชฌิมาราม ซึ่งมีเด็กสยาม จำนวน 218 คน และโรงเรียนวัดสุคนธาราม ซึ่งมีเด็กสยาม จำนวน 127 คน ทั้งนี้ โรงเรียนเหล่านี้สอนภาษาไทยและวัฒนธรรมไทยในศุกร์และวันเสาร์ ซึ่งเป็นวันหยุดสุดสัปดาห์เกือบตลอดทั้งปี
On Saturday, 2 July 2016 Consul General Paitoon Songkaeo visited three schools of the Thai language and culture. They are situated in three Buddhist temples in Tumpat District, Kelantan State. The first school with 227 pupils of Malaysian of Thai origin (Siamese) is in Wat Pikulthong, the second one with 218 Siamese pupils is in Wat Machchimaram, and the third one with 127 Siamese pupils is in Wat Sukontharam. These schools teach the Thai language and culture every Friday and Saturday, almost throughout the year.
