เมื่อวันจันทร์ที่ 1 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2560 ดร. ไพฑูรย์ สงค์แก้ว กงสุลใหญ่ฯ ได้ไปเป็นประธานในงานสงกรานต์ที่วัดเทพจันทราราม รัฐตรังกานู ซึ่งเป็นวัดที่ดาโต๊ะจันทร์ สุขสวัสดิ์ ได้เป็นผู้นำในการก่อสร้างจนใกล้จะแล้วเสร็จ โดยในงานดังกล่าวมีการสรงน้ำพระพุทธรูป การรดน้ำคนแก่เฒ่า และการเล่นสาดน้ำกันเองอย่างสนุกสนาน นับเป็นการเผยแพร่ประเพณีและวัฒนธรรมอันดีงามของไทยในหมู่ชาวมาเลเซียเชื้อสายไทย (คนสยาม) ชาวมาเลเซียเชื้อสายจีน และชาวมาเลเซียเชื้อสายอินเดีย ตลอดถึงชาวมาเลเซียมุสลิมที่มาร่วมงานด้วย ทั้งนี้ เมื่อค่ำวันอาทิตย์ที่ 30 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2560 ได้มีพิธีฉลองเปิดศาลานั่งพักสองหลังใหม่ในวัดด้วย

On Monday 1 May 2017, Dr. Paitoon Songkaeo, Consul-General, presided over the Songkran celebration at Wat Thepchantararam in Terangganu State, which has been being built by Datuk Eh Chan Tom. Hundreds of people comprising the Thais from Thailand, Malaysians of Thai origin (Siamese), of Chinese origins, and of Indian origin, as well as Muslim Malaysians participated in the function. Buddhists of various races followed the Thai Songkran tradition of bathing the Buddha statue and respectfully pouring water onto the hands of the monks and the elderly. Almost all the participants enjoyed themselves in playfully throwing water at each other. In addition to the celebration, there had also been a rite of donating and opening the two new pavilions to the temple on the previous night.
