๕ ธันวาคม วันดินโลก / 5th December "World Soil Day"

องค์การสหประชาชาติได้มีมติเมื่อวันที่ ๒๐ ธันวาคม ๒๕๕๖ ประกาศรับรองให้วันที่ ๕ ธันวาคม ของทุกปีซึ่งเป็นวันคล้ายวันพระบรมราชสมภพของพระบาทสมเด็จพระบรมชนกาธิเบศ มหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชมหาราช บรมนาถบพิตร เป็นวันดินโลก (World Soil Day) ด้วยซาบซึ้งในพระปรีชาสามารถและพระมหากรุณาธิคุณที่ได้ทรงศึกษาค้นคว้าวิธีการจัดการดินและแก้ไขปัญหาทรัพยากรดิน จนเป็นที่ประจักษ์ไปทั่วโลกว่าผลสำเร็จของการดำเนินงานตามแนวพระราชดำริก่อให้เกิดประโยชน์สุขต่อชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ของประชาชนและความยั่งยืนของสิ่งแวดล้อม และเป็นวิถีที่นำไปสู่ความปลอดภัยและความมั่นคงทางอาหาร และการขจัดความอดอยากหิวโหยตามเป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนของสหประชาชาติ

ในปี ๒๕๖๓ องค์การอาหารและเกษตรแห่งสหประชาติ ได้กำหนดหัวข้อหลักในการจัดงานเพื่อสร้างการรับรู้และรณรงค์ภายใต้หัวข้อ “Keep soil alive, protect soil biodiversity : รักษ์ปฐพี คืนชีวีที่หลากหลายให้ผืนดิน” ซึ่งเน้นความสำคัญของความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพในดินที่มีการเกื้อกูลซึ่งกันและกันของสิ่งมีชีวิตต่างๆ ในดินทั้งไส้เดือน จุลินทรีย์ มด แมลง ทำให้เกิดการหมุนเวียนของกิจกรรมภายในดิน สร้างความอุดมสมบูรณ์ของดินให้เกิดขึ้นโดยไม่ต้องพึ่งพาสารเคมี

ในการนี้ กระทรวงเกษตรและสหกรณ์ รวมทั้งองค์การสหประชาชาติ ได้จัดกิจกรรมวันดินโลก เพื่อส่งเสริมและสร้างความตระหนักรู้เกี่ยวกับความสำคัญของทรัพยากรดินต่อการพัฒนาด้านการเกษตร โภชนการ และความมั่นคงทางอาหารทั้งในระดับประเทศและระหว่างประเทศ รายละเอียดปรากฏตามลิงก์ http://worldsoilday.ldd.go.th/ และ https://www.un.org/en/observances/world-soil-day

On 20th December 2013 the United Nation Assembly designated the 5th December as the “World Soil Day” because it corresponds with the official birthday of H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, who was one of the main proponents of this initiative. Since 2014, the international community celebrates the World Soil Day in recognition of H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great’s tireless personal commitment to the cause of soil, especially in agriculture. The remarkable achievement of His Royal Initiative Projects, particularly in soil management, brings about many benefits to the well-being of the Thai people and the sustainability of the environment, and also responds to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), in ending hunger and achieving food security.

This year, the Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) campaign of "Keep soil alive, protect soil biodiversity" aims to raise awareness of the importance of sustaining healthy ecosystems and human well-being. By encouraging people around the world to engage in proactively improving soil health, the campaign also aims to fight soil biodiversity loss.

In this regard, activities have been organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation of Thailand and the United Nation to promote and raise awareness of the importance of soil as an entity towards agriculture development, nutrition and food security at the national and international level to address the challenges of rising pace in population growth.
