เมื่อวันอาทิตย์ที่ 19 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2560 ดร. ไพฑูรย์ สงค์แก้ว กงสุลใหญ่ฯ, พร้อมนางนวรัตน์ สงค์แก้ว ภรรยา และนางสาวจันทรรัตน์ งามชนะ รองกงสุลใหญ่ฯ, ได้เป็นประธานในพิธีพระราชทานเพลิงศพพระครูประศาสน์ประชากร (ฟ่า ฉันทะธัมโม) อดีตเจ้าอาวาสวัดโพธิวิหาร อ. ตุมปัต รัฐกลันตัน ที่เมรุชั่วคราวในวัดโพธิวิหารดังกล่าว ในงานดังกล่าวมีชาวพุทธจากประเทศไทย ชาวพุทธมาเลเซียเชื้อสายไทย (ชาวสยาม) และชาวพุทธมาเลเซียเชื้อสายจีนจำนวนหลายพันคนได้เข้าร่วมงานทั้งในช่วงกลางวันและตอนกลางคืน ทั้งนี้ งานพระราชทานเพลิงศพดังกล่าวได้จัดขึ้นระหว่างวันที่ 15-19 มีนาคม 2560

On Sunday 19 March 2017, Dr. Paitoon Songkaeo, Consul-General, accompanied by wife Mrs. Nawarat Songkaeo, and Miss Jantarat Ngamchana, Deputy Consul-General, presided over the Royal Cremation of the late Phrakru Prasat Prachakorn (Fa Chantatemmo), who was the abbot of Wat Potivihan and a revered monk in Tumpat District of Kelantan State. Thousands of Thai Buddhists, and devotees of Malaysians of Thai origin (Siamese) as well as those of Chinese origin attended the cremation ceremonies - both in day time and at night time. The funeral was actually held from 15 to 19 March 2017.
