เมื่อวันศุกร์ที่ 18 สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2560 ดร. ไพฑูรย์ สงค์แก้ว กงสุลใหญ่ฯ ได้ไปวัดสุคนธารามที่บ้านบังหยัง อ. ตุมปัต รัฐกลันตัน เพื่อร่วมการถวายอาหารเพลแด่พระภิกษุ ซึ่งผู้ใหญ่และเด็กนักเรียนภาษาและวัฒนธรรมไทยชาวสยามบ้านบังหยังประมาณ 250 คนได้ร่วมกันจัดขึ้นเพื่อเลี้ยงส่งกงสุลใหญ่ฯ ผู้จะเกษียณอายุราชการในวันที่ 30 กันยายน 2560 นอกจากนี้ ในงานดังกล่าวโรงเรียนภาษาและวัฒนธรรมไทยวัดสุคนธารามยังได้มอบของที่ระลึกให้แก่นักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏยะลาผู้เป็นอาสาสมัครมาสอนภาษาและวัฒนธรรมไทยที่โรงเรียนนี้เป็นเวลาหกเดือนอีกด้วย

On Friday 18 August 2017, Dr. Paitoon Songakeo, Consul-General, went to Wat Sukhontharam (temple) at Bangyang village in Tumpat district of Kelantan State to attend a Buddhist merit-making function. In it, about 250 Malaysians of Thai origin (Siamese) of the village, both adults and pupils of the Thai language and culture class, offered lunch to the Buddhist monks, as well as hosted a party of farewell to the Consul-General, who is to reach a compulsory retirement age on 30 September 2017. During the function, the Thai language and culture school of the temple also presented a gift to the teaching volunteers from Yala Rajbhat University, who are completing the six month period of voluntary service there very soon.
