เมื่อวันที่ 17 กันยายน 2560 ดร. ไพฑูรย์ สงค์แก้ว กงสุลใหญ่ ณ เมืองโกตาบารู ได้เข้าร่วมการแข่งขันกีฬานันทนาการสร้างเสริมความสัมพันธ์ไทย-มาเลเซีย ประจำปี 2560 (Malaysia - Thailand Goodwill Games 2017) ที่เมืองโกตาบารู รัฐกลันตัน โดยในปีนี้สำนักงานเลขาธิการรัฐกลันตันเป็นเจ้าภาพจัดการแข่งขันสลับกับที่จังหวัดนราธิวาสเป็นเจ้าภาพจัดการแข่งขันในครั้งที่ผ่านมา โดยมีผู้เข้าร่วมการแข่งขัน ทั้งเจ้าหน้าที่และนักกีฬาจากประเทศไทยและรัฐกลันตัน รวมทั้งสิ้นกว่า 500 คนใน 8 ประเภทกีฬา และในช่วงค่ำของวันเดียวกัน กงสุลใหญ่ฯ ได้เข้าร่วมพิธีปิดและพิธีมอบรางวัลแก่ผู้เข้าร่วมการแข่งขัน โดยมี Datuk Abdullah bin Ya’kub ประธานสภานิติบัญญัติของรัฐกลันตันเป็นประธาน ร่วมกับนางพาตีเมาะห์ สะดียามู รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดนราธิวาส ซึ่งเป็นหัวหน้าคณะนักกีฬาฝ่ายไทย
On 17 September 2017, Dr. Paitoon Songkaeo, Consul-General to Kota Bharu, joined a Malaysia - Thailand Goodwill Games 2017 at Kota Bharu, Kelantan, which was organized by the Office of the State Secretary of Kelantan State. The games were participated by about 500 officials and players of Malaysian and Thai. And in the evening, Datuk Abdullah Ya’kub, the Speaker of the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly, presided over the closing ceremony of the games at the Perdana Hotel, Kota Bharu, together with Mrs. Patimah Sadeeyamu, Vice Governor of Narathiwat Province, who was the Head of Thailand delegation. The Thai Consul-General to Kota Bharu also attended the prize giving ceremony.
