เมื่อบ่ายวันศุกร์ที่ 22 กันยายน พ.ศ. 2560 ดร. ไพฑูรย์ สงค์แก้ว กงสุลใหญ่ฯ พร้อมนางนวรัตน์ สงค์แก้ว ภรรยา และข้าราชการสถานกงสุลใหญ่ฯ ได้ไปร่วมงานอำลาอาลัยต่อกงสุลใหญ่ฯ ที่จะเกษียณอายุราชการในสิ้นวันที่ 30 กันยายน 2560 ที่สามองค์กรชาวมาเลเซียเชื้อสายไทย (ชาวสยาม) ในรัฐกลันตัน คือ คณะสงฆ์รัฐกลันตัน ศูนย์การเรียนการสอนภาษาและวัฒนธรรมไทยรัฐกลันตัน และสมาคมสยามรัฐกลันตัน ได้ร่วมกันจัดขึ้นที่วัดพิกุลทองวราราม อ. ตุมปัต รัฐกลันตัน

In the afternoon of Friday 22 September 2017, Dr. Paitoon Songakeo, Consul-General, and Mrs. Nawarat Songkaeo, his wife, together with the officials of the Royal Thai Consulate-General attended a farewell function in their honor jointly organized at Wat Pikuntongwararam in Tumpat district of Kelantan State, by the Buddhist Sanggha Council of Kelantan State, the Center for the Teaching of Thai Language and Culture of Kelantan State, and the Association of Siamese Community of Kelantan State. The Consul-General will reach a compulsory age of retirement at the end of this 30 September 2017.
